Connection and Action Permissions

Scroll Prev Top Next More

The administrator setting up the connections can assign permissions in order to limit who can access them. This means that you can set up sensitive connections, such as database lookups, that cannot be used by certain app designers.

The available permission settings are as follows:

Use - You can grant app designers permission to use the connection within their app from a Connect command or a Connect and Search command. In order to use a connection and action inside an app, the Use permission must be granted to the owner of the app on both the connection and action.

Edit - Allows the named users to browse and edit the connection details and actions.

Full Control - Allows the named users to make full changes except for the ability to delete the connection. Only the connection owner can delete the connection.

The viewer of the app is not required to have explicit permission over the connection. Anyone who has permission to view the app can automatically use the connection capability embedded inside the app. Two levels of permissions apply when using connections in apps:

The viewer must have View permission of app (either explicit, or thru World permission)

The app owner must have Use permission of the connection

When permissions for a connection are applied, or changed, you will be provided with the option to also apply those permissions to any existing actions.

Apply Permission Changes (Connection)

Choose either option and click OK.
